About Artists United
Artists United is a club made up of amateur, professional, and retired artists. Our aims are to encourage individual artistic development, and to bring art into the community.
The club began meeting in 1949, originally started by a group of watercolor painters living in Burien and the surrounding areas. Gradually the club expanded, and has grown to include members from throughout South King County, working in a variety of media: drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, and jewelry.
Guests and new members are always welcome!

What We Do
Artists United hosts special events, sponsors art demonstrations, and creates a monthly members' newsletter.
Annual Juried Show - a public exhibit produced by members, juried by professional artists, with awards presented to the winning artists.
Autumn Art Fair - an annual show and sale of artworks by members, held every fall.
Exhibits - allows members to display artwork in selected local venues, on a rotational year round basis.
Programs - a program takes place in conjunction with many of our monthly meetings, and offers demonstrations by local professional artists working in various art media. This website includes pages on several of recent programs. See Links for some artists who have demonstrated for us. Artwork Critique, discussed below, is another type of program scheduled twice yearly.
Artwork Critique - a twice yearly event where members bring art to be critiqued by the members. The artists may bring his/her best efforts or those with problems, even unfinished art. The event is moderated by professional artists, and the critiques are always courteous and constructive.
Artwork of the Month - a longtime activity just resumed after several years of dormancy. Artists bring their work to the monthly meeting, for members to enjoy. An Artwork of the Month is selected by secret ballot.
