John Morreall
I’m a retired professor specializing in aesthetics and the philosophy of humor. Since high school I’ve done painting, sculpture, and pottery, with occasional woodworking, blacksmithing, and glass blowing. At Northwestern University I taught Aesthetics for seven years, and at the Rochester Institute of Technology I taught the MFA Aesthetics course for eight. I’ve published six books and 50+ articles on the nature and benefits of humor. As a sideline, I’ve done over 600 seminars and presentations on humor in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa, China, and Japan (www.humorworks.com)/). Now that I’m retired, I can practice what I preach, by putting more humor into my painting. I also do standard portraits, landscapes, and paintings of animals. My smaller paintings are at morelgallery.etsy.com.
