March   2018 – Ray  Pfortner

Ray Pfortner has been photographing professionally for over 20 years—in New York City and the Northeast, the Pacific Northwest and Canada, Europe and Asia.  In addition to his own photography, he has been teaching photography, from business to composition to storytelling. Ray often teaches ‘the business of art for all art mediums’ for Daniel Smith Art Supply, Bellevue College, South Seattle College.
Ray Pfortner presented a program that consisted largely of information about the business of art. He talked briefly about his upcoming shows, programs, and workshops he is teaching currently. He addressed the issues of copyrights, suggested WA Lawyers for the Arts as a valuable resource, and stressed the need for good digital images of all artworks. The digital images may be used as proof of copyright, for merchandising, and for
entering shows. Ray will teach more “Business of Art” courses this spring at Daniel Smith Art Supply, Bellevue College, and South Seattle College.
