Ron Hammond
I became a full-time photographer after a long career in control systems design and scientific software development, testing, and teaching.
Like my heroes the great humanist photographers, I am much more interested in people and their everyday lives than in spectacular places or momentous events. One of these heroes, Robert Doisneau, described himself as a "fisherman of images". I like the metaphor of patiently waiting with baited camera at an interesting time and place. While largely self-taught, I studied photography at the Keenan Center for the Arts (Lockport NY), Bellevue Community College, Photographic Center Northwest (Seattle), the Coupeville Center for the Arts and privately with Russell Drisch (Buffalo NY) and Nick Hansen (Seattle). I have had 18 solo shows of my work and my work has been in numerous group and juried shows. It is in the collections of several museum and private collections. |
