Hello! My name is Shannan Folino, and I want to thank you for taking the time to
view my artwork.
The appreciation of handmade items has always been a part of my life. I grew up
with parents who did many different types of artwork, from needlework to bronze
casting. So it was not a great stretch for me to take up painting, collage work and
I have had many wonderful instructors over the years, and they have helped me immensely in developing my own personal style of artwork. I tend to be very eclectic in my work, varying greatly the materials I use in any given piece and especially enjoy gathering a collection of recycled items with a particular theme and creating something cohesive with them.
In any given piece of artwork you might see watercolors, acrylics, collage, beads, old wood or metal, found items, ephemera, pen and ink designs and even clay or wire shapes that I form myself. I have created on every surface you can imagine, from old cedar fencing, to brushed aluminum, to corrugated cardboard.
I feel each of us creates from the vast internal environment we develop as we travel through our lives. Each piece of art is a unique and glorious representation of the person who has created it. Thank you for taking time to look at and explore my art. I hope that you find something in it that speaks to you!
